Over the past couple of weeks I have been feeling like I have no time, no time to get done what I want or need to do. It’s seems like my life is a constant cycle of waking up going to work, coming home cooking tea, cleaning and going to bed. The nights just seem to run away with me before I have had chance to get anything done. I keep thinking when I get home tonight I will get some blogging done and then read some of my book before going to bed but by the time I have got home cooked tea, washed and cleaned up sorted Thomas out ready for bed I don’t feel like doing much other than going to sleep myself and there goes another wasted night.

I think half of my problem is the time of year with it being constantly dark I feel like I get no life or no time to enjoy things and I just get so frustrated. I want to do more blogging and get my blog off the ground again because that’s frustrating me I feel like I am getting nowhere with it I feel like I am still stuck at the same position I was this time last year when I made the silly decision to change my blog URL. I have so many ideas for blog posts but no time to actually sit down and write or take photos to go along with the posts. Again mainly due to this time of year.

The most important thing to me is the time I have with Thomas or the lack of time I have with him. Thomas’s dad and I have been having Thomas on Alternate weekends for quite a while now and it still doesn’t get any better. With working full time weekends are the only proper time I have with Thomas and then I only have every other weekend with him I feel like we miss out on doing ever such a lot because the weekends I do have him my family obviously want to see him so we can’t just go away for the day and do fun stuff and make memories.  It’s times like this I really do miss working part time and I am so envious of people who are fortunate to be able to work part time.

I would love to know how you manage to find the perfect balance in your life so you are able to get everything done you need to.

I have tried many times to keep a diary and I have failed many times too. In fact the only year I think I have successfully managed to keep a diary was 2009, I managed to fill a page a day diary for a whole year. Back in those days I must have had a lot to write about, writing down all my tales from weekends spent partying and generally having a good time.

These days life is quieter which isn't always a bad thing but I don't seem to have much to write about. Well I say that but I bet if I got going I could ramble on for pages and pages. I don't think it's just the fact that I feel I haven't got much to write in a diary these days it's also the fact that I just don't have time to sit and write my thoughts and feelings down each night which is probably why I start to miss days and then weeks and pretty soon I have another failed diary shoved in a box somewhere.

For Christmas my mum bought me a One line a day five year memory book which is something I had wanted for ages but hadn't got round to buying myself one so I was pretty happy when I unwrapped it as I didn't even know she knew I wanted one.  How could I fail at writing one line a day?

So far I am doing pretty well I remember to write in it pretty much every night, there have been a couple of nights when I have cheated. I just hope I can keep up with it every night for the next 5 years as it will be such a nice thing to look back on and I can't wait to see how my life changes.

One thing that did scare me rather a lot with this little book is that I skipped ahead to my birthday and wrote how old I would be each year, lets just say I will be 30 when I finish this book. I will also have a 7 year old son. I wonder if I will have anymore children and how old they will be?
...They tell you every time they trump "Mama I pumpey bum again" and then continue to laugh because it's the funniest thing on earth.

...You notice little holes wearing in the knees of their jeans because they just love to scuff around the floor.

...They point out where there willy is every.single.nappy.change

...There are cars every where you look.

...You become an expert at playing dead after being shot with an empty bottle.

...Your cushions spend more time on the floor than on your sofa

...You can rarely sit down without being climbed all over or jumped on

Over the last couple of weeks I have really been buckling down with the whole eating healthily and trying to get fit, I feel like it's really in my head now. One thing that I have been reading up on is Teatox after I had seen lots of different bloggers talking about it on Instagram. When I had the chance to try them out and review them I was extremely excited for them to be delivered.

Over the past few months I have been drinking more and more flavoured or green tea to try and steer myself away from a milky sugary cup of tea in a bid to cut out unnecessary syns on Slimming World.

The teas were delivered just in time for my morning cup of tea so I switched the kettle on to make myself a cuppa along with my breakfast. The morning tea is a blend of Chinese white tea, lemongrass, Ginseng and Liquorice root to name a few

As you can see it doesn't look like your normal everyday teabag.

The morning tea is quite a lemony taste which I quite like, I find it rather refreshing to drink in the morning it definitely perks you up.

The daytime tea is berry burst flavour, although it doesn't taste overly berry like it is still pretty nice. As you can see from the ingredients below it contains a wide variety of different things such as fennel seeds, apple pieces, orange peel and lots more.

My favourite tea of them all it the Sleep Tight tea it is just such a warming and calming flavour, even though that does sound a little odd to describe a cup of tea like that but it really is the perfect tea for bedtime.

I will report back when I have finished my 14 day Teatox but so far so good, I am still enjoying having my daily teas but I shall let you know if I actually think they are doing anything for me, although already after a few days I am feeling a lot less bloated which is really good. 

It’s no secret that I love Geordie Shore it is my guilty pleasure so when I heard that Charlotte and Vicky were bringing out fitness DVDs I knew that I had to buy Charlotte's simply because I think she is brilliant. With her fitness DVD she claims that by following the routine you can lose up to 5lb a week and you can get rid of your flabby belly. Exactly what I need as two and a half years down the line I am still trying to lose my jelly mum tum.

I ordered myself a copy of Charlotte Crosby’s 3 minute belly blitz from Amazon and after a day or two it arrived and I was pretty excited to see what it was like. For some the title of the DVD could be a bit misleading “3 minute belly blitz” you wont lose weight and tone up just by doing 3 minutes a day. The DVD actually has 12 3 minute rounds plus a warm up, cool down and a Killer ab section. The DVD uses HIIT which stands for High Intensity Interval Training, which are short, fast paced routines which aim to get your heart rate up quickly as these types of exercises burn fat quicker than if you were to do a half hour run. Along with the fast paced exercises there are also resistance round containing the usual exercises associated with toning such as crunches, press ups, hill climbs and squats.

If you are a beginner like me it is recommended that you try a few rounds at a time, for example on my first night I did the warm up, 5 rounds, the killer ab section and then the cool down. Then on the second night I did the warm up, 10 rounds, the killer ab section and then the cool down and so on until you can complete the whole DVD. With each round there is somebody doing the beginner movements so you can copy off him if you need to. I tend to do some of the beginners moves towards the end of the DVD when I am cream crackered but I don’t want to give up.

You don’t need any equipment really to complete this DVD even though Charlotte and the instructors use weighted gloves you could get away with holding a couple of water bottles on tins of beans. I actually went and brought some wrist weights as they are easier and they were also cheaper than weighted gloves. You do benefit from having the extra weight in your hands as it works your arms better.

So far I can’t comment on if the DVD actually works as I have only had it a week but already I feel like my fitness levels are getting better. I really should have taken measurements but I suppose I can’t really work out how much weight loss or inch loss is down to this DVD or the fact that I am doing Slimming World. I shall do an update post in about a month to let you know whether this DVD is working for me. In the meantime though it is quite an enjoyable DVD and I look forward to doing it each day and another good point to this DVD is that you don’t have the annoying celeb babble that you do sometimes get on these types of Celeb work out DVDs, Charlotte keeps fairly quiet apart from the odd classic Charlotte remark such as “sweat is just fat crying” which I love!  
....Taking Thomas to the farm

Last week I spotted a post about Amerton Farm here on Sophie's blog and made a note in my mind to take Thomas again when it gets a bit warmer as we haven't been since his first birthday. On Sunday morning when Thomas was dropped off I wanted to get out of the house with him and I was going to take him to the park but as it was nearing lunch time I decided to go for a little run out in the car to Amerton Farm as there is a nice little cafe there we could get some lunch.

I can't believe the last time we visited the farm Thomas was barely walking or talking and now we were back Thomas was running around and we were chatting about all of the animals and he was pointing things out to me getting himself so excited. They really do grow up too quick, in a blink of an eye a year and a half had passed.

This year I am definitely going to start taking Thomas out more and explore more places and make the most of our time together. So much time is wasted doing nothing.


600g lean minced beef
1 pint of beef stock (Syn free variety)
1 large onion
frozen peas
frozen sweetcorn
1tlbs Lee & Perrins sauce
For the mash
2 large carrots
2 small swedes
tbsp fat free Quark

Put your oven on to warm at 200.  Peel and chop the carrots and swede, add them to a large pan of salted boiling water, bring the pan back to the boil and then simmer for 20-25 mins.

Add the mince to the pan, allow that to brown, and then add the onions and the stock.  Bring the pan to the boil and then simmer gently until the stock has started to thicken.  Add the frozen peas and sweetcorn into the pan and cook through for 2 minutes. I also season my cottage pie with some mixed herbs to give more flavour.

When the carrots and swede are tender drain them, add a tablespoon of quark and mash them until all the lumps have dissolved. If you still have some milk left from you HxA you could always use that instead.

Add to a casserole dish and then spread the carrot and swede mash on top, I love to add a sprinkle of cheese to the top if I haven’t used my HxA allowance for the day.

I absolutely love cottage pie with the carrot and swede topping I think it adds a nice sweetness, I don’t think I would go back to using potatoes now. If you are trying out the new Slimming World SP plan you can have this completely free, it is also free on the normal EE plan
I wanted a new hobby for 2015 but I was undecided on what to do until I recently saw a well known beauty blogger Lily Pebbles mention in a recent Youtube video that she had been scrapbooking in the form of Project Life. I was very intrigued to find out more about Project Life as I had tried scrapbooking in the past shortly after Thomas was born I tried but doing a scrapbook from scratch was just too much with a newborn baby I just didn't have the time for it.

I read up more about Project Life and watched lots of Youtube videos about it and decided to give it a go myself. It seems to be quite an American thing so I haven't heard many people mention Project Life but if you browse Youtube, Instagram or Pinterest you can find lots of inspiration for your scrapbook.

I decided to buy my project book from Hobbycraft as it was one of the cheapest places I could find it and if you sign up to their hobby club it gave me a 15% off code which was much appreciated. I bought the Blush Edition D Ring binder, a pack of 12 dividers which you can use to separate your binder up as they have little tabs on the top which I am writing the months of the year on. I also got two packets of 12 page protectors which are the pages that you slot your photos or journaling cards in. There are quite a few different layouts so I chose Design A and D to get me started but I should imagine I will pick up the different layouts when I really get stuck in to the scrapbook because I may find that different layouts would work better.

With project you can get big packs of the journal cards which are called "Core Collections" which come in many different themes and they contain around 600 cards and normally retail for £29.99. I didn't want to just complete my whole binder in one certain theme. I want to be able to do different themes for different occasions so I bought a couple of the small packs from Amazon and I will carry on with that I think for this binder.

I am hoping to do monthly updates on my binder to show you how I am getting on. One thing that is bugging me is I wish my handwriting was neater but never mind I don't suppose there is much I can do about that.

My plan is to see how I get on with this over the next couple of months and then if I am still enjoying Project Life I am going to buy another binder and do one all about Thomas and I have a couple of ideas of what I want to do to make it extra special.
Dear Thomas, This year I have decided to make some promises to you to make our year the best one yet.

I promise to spend more time playing with you and all of your toys television off and phone away.

I promise that we will start to do more crafts together, I am hoping for us to do something new each week to make the most of all your craft supplies, even it ifs just an hour of colouring together.

I promise that we will have more trips to the park.

I promise that we will go out on more day trips and we will visit the seaside

I promise that I will continue reading to you every single night. I hope that 2015 will be even better

Well it's that time a year again where we sit down and write a list of things we hope to achieve in the next year even though we end up breaking most of them by about March. Well I do anyway, I'm hoping this year it will be a little different as they are all easily achievable targets.

  • Fill in my "One line a day" journal everyday, I try to keep a diary every year and fail in fact the only year I managed it was 2009 but surely keeping up with one line a day wont be too hard. Will it?
  • Carry on with Slimming World and reach my target. I'm hoping to achieve this by March!
  • Save money, Stop spending money on unnecessary things. I have lots of things I want to save for this year so I am putting myself on a spending ban to try and save some money.
  • Complete my Project life book, which I shall be doing a post on as soon as it arrives.
  • Try harder with blogging and try to post at least 3 times a week for the whole of 2015!
  • Read more books, I got 2 books for Christmas which I want to try and read by the end of January and so I am hoping to find my love of reading again as I failed miserably at that in 2014.
  • Make the most of my weekends with Thomas, get out of the house and do stuff!
  • Take Thomas on holiday, we missed out on a holiday in 2014 so I am hoping to be able to take him on holiday in 2015.
  • Be happy!
